There is an old quote that goes something like “people come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.” When Pete Cook and I run our Seven Secrets of Growing Your Bookkeeping Business Seminars and Webinars we come briefly into the lives of great bookkeepers with our mission “To transform the bookkeeping industry by helping great bookkeepers grow their businesses”. It is inspiring to see them leave after just a few hours with the realisation they are more than “just bookkeepers”.

Every day when I get a call from a bookkeeper with an issue in their business I feel privileged that they have shared that part of their journey with me and that I’ve been able to help in some way. And I learn just as much from them in the exchange.

As I grew my bookkeeping business my team have shown me where my weaknesses and my fears lay and, with Pete’s help, facing them one by one has been the most empowering experience of my life.

My family also teach me lessons every day. My husband, Neil, teaches me to slow down, smell the roses and be patient. My eldest son James, teaches me to have courage. My daughter Laura, reminds me to have big belly laughs often and my youngest son Daniel, teaches me to just be still sometimes and listen. What a blessing they are in my life.

So thank you for coming into my life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. You teach me lessons that I carry with me and for that, I am truly grateful.

Perhaps the lesson in this message for you is to stop for a moment and reflect on the people who come into your life for a season, a reason or a lifetime and not only be thankful but let them know how important they are to you. No matter how busy you are.
